Montessori Association of Victoria - NEW SCHOOL PROJECTS REGISTRY

The New School Project Registry is maintained by the Montessori Association of Victoria.(MAV)

It's purpose is to support all efforts to establish or expand Montessori programs. At the same time the MAV strongly encourages links to the greater Montessori community. In this way it is hoped that each project will gain the information that will enable them to understand and appreciate the best Montessori programs and to use them as role models. It is not the MAVs purpose to direct development but to provided as much information as possible for those involved in each project to make the best choices in their planning.

The intention for the New School Project Registry is to enable sharing of information, the provision of help when it is most needed and to keep the Montessori community informed, inspired and united. Hearing of other efforts also helps to alert those attempting growth to the real picture - the stories of struggle and of success that is involved in opening a Montessori centre. It also acts as a referral service for others so they may access contacts and information to enable them in their efforts to establish or expand a Montessori program.

To enable monitoring of the activities of each group projects registered with the New School Projects Registry will have their confidentiality ensured by the designation of a number to each project Specified Mainstream , Independent or private school projects will also have this noted. Information about the project will be published only with permission from the project co-ordinator. Once the project group has reached their goal and opened classes their registration ceases and they are encouraged to become school members of their state Montessori organisation to continued to receive support and services.

Services extended to Registered projects:

ASSOCIATE MEMBERSHIP for the MONTESSORI ASSOCIATION OF VICTORIA

A free Associate Membership with the MAV is provided. This Membership will need to be renewed at the standard fee at the start of the next financial year. Projects registered between March 1^st and July 30^th in any year will not need renewing until July 1^st the following year. The services for Registered Projects will be maintained for an additional $10.00 per year and is payable at the same time as the Associate membership renewal.

SUPPORT NETWORK:

Sometimes you just need to know you're on the right track, you need another opinion or to talk to someone who has been there before. The MAV has a list of Support People who are happy to provide an understanding ear and will help where they can, or refer you to someone who can help. Our Support People may be in your area or they may be experienced or informed about the needs of your particular project. The MAV can also link you to others attempting the same type of program so that you may share information and experiences.

OUR OFFICE offers continued contact for questions and information. The MAV direct line for New Schools is provided so you can receive prompt answers or help.

DATA AND DETAILS:

The MAV via the original New Schools Network has been collecting information on the establishment of Montessori programs since 1998. The files can be accessed either at the office or via the direct line to the New Schools Administrator. No question is too trivial or too difficult. We attempt to find the answers if we do not know them.

Information packs are being developed on all subjects that have been common areas of concern for others opening Montessori programs. They include :

• Registering an Independent school including many of the details required for registration.
• Details on contacting a State school for classes on campus in various models.
• Equipment and furnishing for 6 - 9 level classes.
• Sponsoring teachers through training.
• Employing from overseas including information on visas and sponsoring.
• Gauging interest in your project
• Teacher training options for Victorians - including upgrading qualifications.

These professional services are provided at cost for registered members.
